ANIMALS DO NOT SUFFER IN HALAL SLAUGHTER

In the study, beta-endorphin levels were analyzed before the halal slaughter, during the slaughter, and three minutes after the slaughter. It was found that the hormone levels in the blood samples taken during the slaughter were twice as high as the values obtained before the slaughter, and approximately four times higher three minutes after the slaughter.

30 TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE THAN MORPHINE

Experts stated that the pain-relieving property of this hormone is 30 times more effective than morphine, and they emphasized that in halal slaughter, animals calm down thanks to the beta-endorphin hormone.

SCIENTIFIC RESPONSE TO SPECULATIONS

Professor Dr. Gürbüz Aksoy, a faculty member at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Harran University, made a statement regarding the study: “The issue of animal slaughter is an important agenda item in our country and around the world. Especially before Eid al-Adha, various speculations are made in our country. It is claimed that animals suffer when halal slaughter is performed. To clarify this issue, we conducted a scientific study with my team. We found that the hormone called beta-endorphin, which is produced by the body before and after slaughter, increased up to four times. This means the brain produces a hormone called beta-endorphin. This hormone is a painkiller and relaxant. It is 30 times more effective than morphine. The production of this hormone by the body is very important for animals. In animal slaughter, when we examined before and after the slaughter, we saw that it increased up to four times after the slaughter. We determined that animals calm down and relax through this hormone. We have found that animals subjected to halal slaughter do not experience pain and calm down.”

EUROPEANS DAMAGE THE BRAIN

Professor Dr. Aksoy pointed out that European Union countries use methods such as firearms and electric shocks during slaughter, which causes the animal to suffer more and also leads to the “mad cow” effect. He also stated that the meat of animals slaughtered using these methods poses health risks. “There is a possibility that animals slaughtered with firearms and electric shocks may die before the slaughter is done,” said Professor Dr. Gürbüz Aksoy. “European Union countries apply slaughter using firearms and electric shocks. They first destroy the animal’s brain with a gun. While doing this, animals may die. Then, slaughter is performed, and blood remains in the body. Because the brain is destroyed, the mad cow disease agents spread throughout the body, creating a significant risk for human health. In our halal slaughter, however, animals do not experience pain, and the meat is healthy. We need to explain and show this to countries that slaughter animals using firearms. Our study will soon be presented at an international veterinary conference after passing peer review.”
